Tutoring

I am now accepting tutees who are learning French or Russian.

I was reminded in a tutoring session just recently that this is what I’ve been doing. That session was mostly devoted to preparing for real-life interactions with French strangers. As I looked over a student’s translation of “La Pluie” by Paul Claudel as we discussed it, I thought: “I love tutoring others. Why I am so mysterious about the fact I offer this service?”

I am accepting new tutees in person local to Central Kentucky or online.  You can be starting out or refreshing your knowledge. I generally charge $25/hour or the equivalent that nets $25 when subtracting platform fees. 

I am especially in a position to take on tutees who want to improve conversation skills for time abroad and translation skills in literature and other domains. 

I am open to a more searching discussion about what materials/strategies work best for my students, but my preference is to work with McGraw-Hill books and the Beginner’s Russian/V Puti/etc sequence by Kudyma/Miller/et al. What matters is that I would be your caring teacher.
